First letter from Boot Camp

Yay. We received our first letter from Kaley Sue today. We are so happy to hear from her. Here it is, enjoy.

Dear Mom and Dad,
Oh my goodness! It's the first day at boot camp, and it's interesting. I've never been so hot in my life. I'm sweating 24/7, and I feel gross and there's dirt all over me. You think it's hot at our house? Well, it's that x 50! The leaders here are very strict, and there's a lot of rules to follow. But the kids are really nice. We don't start actual boot camp until Monday (like running the obstacle course and such). But the food isn't too bad here. I hope you guys are having a good time over there! I miss you guys and can't wait to tell you everything about my trip! I've already got a few stories... hahahaha! All I can say is that Dad is crazy for going 2 times... because it's pretty horrible right now. Oh well... I don't care. I just wanna get to Samoa. Did you know that your eyelids can sweat? Hahaha! Mine are... Well, I'll see ya soon! I love you! I miss you!

always,
Kaley Sue

Florida/Samoa Update

They have landed safely in Florida and after a little confusion and a moment of fear & panic (they couldn't find the people they were suppose to meet)... they have found their leaders who will take them to Teen Missions International in Merritt Island, FL. On a side note, the girls are "sweating to death" already & they haven't even left the airport....boy do they have a surprise in store for them! Ha!!!! Good times!!! Now it's time to wait for letters from the girls....and pray that they get a chance to call from the airport in a few weeks when they leave Florida for Samoa!

The Time has Come! We are on our Way!

It's official... Kaley Sue & Marissa are now missionaries... on their way to boot camp in Florida & then on to Samoa for Tsunami rebuilding relief! The goodbye this morning was exciting and sad. A strange mixture of emotions happening here: Excitement... for they will experience an adventure of a lifetime... Anxiety, for I know that I have absolutely NO CONTROL over what happens to them over the next 7 1/2 weeks (how did I let this happen, I ask? LOL!)... Pride, for the amazingly brave, Godly, young women they are... Anticipation, for the day I will see them again...Heartache, for I will miss them terribly while they are away getting dirty for God...And a strange sense of peace, for I know that they are in the perfect will of the Lord & that Jesus Christ loves them even more than I do and He holds them and guides them. I pray they will be safe, that they have the most amazing time, and that they are a blessing to the people of Samoa!

5 Days...

So it's day 5 of on the countdown and we still have a lot to do! The past few days have been spent running from store to store buying new clothes for our trip. We found out that in Samoa, girls have to wear long dresses down to their ankles. (it's a part of their culture there) So we've had to go shopping for that. But, we're totally excited and can't wait to go!!!

The Countdown Begins...

Hey everyone! I know we haven't really updated our blog, we ran into some technical difficulties... But now the countdown really begins! We have only 6 days until we jump on a plane to Florida to have boot camp for two weeks... And then to Samoa for 5 and 1/2... Marissa and I are more nervous than excited right now, so please pray for us. Please pray for safe travel, for us to survive boot camp, and not to get extremely sunburned or eaten alive by mosquitoes! Hahaha we love all of you and thank you for supporting us. We have raised all the money we need, and are ready to go! Thanks again!

XOXOXOXOX,
Kaley Sue
